For many youth and young adults, the school year is currently underway. With commencement of a new academic year, increased stress, bullying, and pressure to “fit in,” often occur. These types of pressures can be detrimental to the emotional well-being and academic success of students.

Did you know that according to National Institute of Mental Health, one (1) in five (5) persons are afflicted by a diagnosable mental illness? Failure to address this crisis in cognitive behavior or “mind-field,” reinforces the inaccurate perceptions associated with mental health. Education on risks and symptoms and creating an environment to discuss concerns increases the likelihood of seeking help. The need for positive interaction and informative sessions between mental health professionals and youth is vital to the academic success of both parents and children.

To assist youth and young adults, grades 4 through 8, in their “mental” health well-being and ensuring a successful academic year, Paula Ratchford Ministries will host GoVertical™ Wellness Camp. This interactive program includes the following:

·       Mind Maze. Identification of behavioral and emotional triggers and establishment of coping mechanisms.

·       “I Have a Do Over.” Development of optimistic mindsets for grade retention and other academic challenges.

·      The Assessment - Why Are We Here? Evaluation of strengths and areas of opportunities to enhance peer-to-peer interactions, teacher-student relationships, and healthy self-esteem.

We are excited to invite youth in grades 4 through 8 to GoVertical™ Wellness Camp, scheduled on Saturday, September 14, 2019, Saturday, September 21, 2019, and Saturday, September 28, 2019 from 10:00 AM (EST) to 1:00 PM (EST), at Ford Community and Performing Arts Center, 15801 Michigan Avenue, Dearborn, MI 48126.

All sessions include learning resources and lunch and will be facilitated by licensed mental health therapists, Sabrina D. Black, MS, LPC, CAC-1 and Jasmine Noble, MA, LLPC.

GoVertical™ Wellness Camp is an excellent opportunity to assist in ensuring youth are positioned and equipped for a successful school year. Registration is FREE and seating is limited.
